I would like you to have all of my money… please…

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you! Can you believe that people actually believe that old cliche? Well I am certain that people do not actually live by it, but nevertheless many claim to believe in it!
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you! Oh sure, I want to be wealthy, so what am I supposed to do? Give all of my possessions to someone else so that they get wealthy?
I want to be happy, I am certain that if I make another person happy at great expense to myself, that will not make me happy.
For years and years, this give or be guilty attitude has been thrust upon the masses by the ruling forces, whether they be institutions, corporations or religions. While the leaders of these groups get wealthier, the trodden-upon are encouraged to feel more guilty and to give what little they have. Somehow us lowly classes have this underlying fantasy that one day it will all come back to us… maybe 10 fold… dreamers!
Actually this is as funny as ‘turn the other cheek’. Oh yeah, I can see it now, someone punched you, so you stand still so that they can punch you again. Rob me now and I will be back later to let you rob me again. Oops! You just smashed into my car? Care to do that again?
There is so much stupidity and impracticality associated with many of these old clichés and yet, they are rarely questioned. What is wrong with humanity? Science has proven that many of them have brains. Perhaps we have not evolved enough to actually use them?
Anyway, I am going to try turn the other cheek and give you all of my money, but if you do not return the favor and do the same for me, I will punch you!

creative living

Stop believing in Fairy Tales!

Positive thinking does not work! It appears to work sometimes, but so does religion, politics, police regulation and corporate control.
The rules (taught as guidelines), that institutions impose upon you, are not realistic or practical. They do not make life easier and they do not free you from problems. They fill you with false hopes and usually leave you stranded with the frustration of broken dreams.
Positive thinking is just another dogma. It depends on guilt and embarrassment to keep the followers chasing the unattainable carrot. It promises riches, security and power all by following a few simple steps and repeating the appropriate mantras on a regular basis. It puts up living examples of Positive Saints who’ve gone before you onto mega-wealth and glory.
If something really works, it works all of the time. Gravity seems to be something that really works, up until now, it has been consistent and reliable. Manmade rules are rarely consistent and reliable.
You accept that the earth rotates around the sun because it does so consistently! If once it didn’t, would your understanding still be complete? Of course not and humanity would frantically try to find an alternative law that did work. Yet, you accept the inconsistencies of positive thinking and other dogmatic teachings.
Positive thinking definitely does not work consistently. It is no different to religion, it’s another unproven set of organised and fantastical ideas.
In truth, the only people who make any money out of positive thinking are those who sell the doctrine. This is similar to those on the internet who make money by telling you how to make money on the internet. They have no product to offer, they are selling a dogma.
You justify the failure of positive thinking by assuming that you are subconsciously negative. You blame yourself for your failure to live up to someone else’s promise. You justify religion by stating that the mysterious god concerned somehow changed his mind through a mysterious thing called ‘His will’. The result is that you always feel guilty and blame yourself for your imperfect ways, even though those teaching the values are just as imperfect.
There are very few things that are consistent in life. Perhaps the only things you can rely on are: change, struggle, bad luck, death and taxes. This seems to be a practical summary of it all.
Perhaps the only thing you really have, is the challenge to make something wonderful in a world that is consistently uncomfortable.
So what now? Question what you justify and you might open the door to a new way of seeing this strange destructive planet.

Creative ways to give up

You have countless times when you did something extraordinary. Something that you were very pleased with. Perhaps you were complimented or even rewarded for your achievement, regardless it is not important. What counts is the fact that you did something wonderful and you have done it lots of times.

What were the magic ingredients that gave you such results? Was it luck, was it the result of hard work or something else. Well, it seems that luck (whatever that means) does play a role in life and hard work does not always pay off – ask anyone who has been self-employed for a long time, they will soon agree with that.

What was the magic ingredient that produced extraordinary results? Most likely it was your attitude. It took me about 5 years to learn to draw portraits. My final breakthrough came through frustration. I was annoyed at my inability to draw and in anger I drew a portrait of my mother-in-law at breakneck speed… and… it worked! I did not give my self-doubt and reservation time to kick in. I did not care and it worked!

Your extraordinary achievements often come about when you have relaxed your expectations and let the spontaneity of the moment rule your actions. Give up trying to be clever and you may well find that it is very easy to be amazing!

creative thoughts

Creative ideas that will confuse you

When you are physically aware, you are in this world. When you are dreaming you are in the dream world. When you are in your thoughts you are in your imagination.
Regardless, you are always here now. You are wherever your focus is your consciousness is. Reality is what you are experiencing. There is no reality for you outside of where your consciousness is.
You exist in a sea of possibilities. This is the quantum world. It is an unformed infinite expression of eternity. It is the sparkling emptiness of swirling colours or white noise that you might experience when you close your eyes.
Whatever you are experiencing is your reality at that moment. When you close your eyes the visual world does not exist. When you fall asleep the physical world no longer exists.
Wherever you are, that is existence. There is no magical other place you can go to. There is not heaven over there, a dream time over here and a physical world in the middle. It is wherever you are. You are where your focus is! Your reality, your world is where your consciousness is at any moment.
Reality is where your consciousness is. You are all possibilities in the one place. You do not go anywhere, you just focus on a different aspect of your reality. Your conscious awareness varies according to where you have allowed it to wander.
When you meditate, you do not fall deep into a spiritual zone for the extremely holy. All you do is change realities but you are still where you are. There is no up or down, in or out. Where you are is the only place your consciousness can ever be.
So when you want to meditate, just stay where you are and drift into an alternative consciousness. You cannot escape from being wherever you are and you cannot escape from being a consciousness that observes these changing realities.
Help I can’t get away from my own awareness!

creative secrets

A gift from the god of creativity… perhaps

I had a vision the other night, I thought I would call it that to make it sound as if it came from some sort of extraordinary cosmic source. I could have just as easily said, I had an idea, but that lacks authority.

In my vision I saw, myself continually being covered in large plain discs, one after another coming from all angles. I saw this as the continual onslaught of problems, petty and major that are always coming at us. I wondered how do I get out of this stupid and uncomfortable situation that persists through most people’s lives?

Surely there was some way out of the constantly annoying misfortunes, that life seems to arrange for each person. Imagine if you had good luck to the same extent that you had bad luck, what a life!

Suddenly I had a realisation, sort of in a cosmically inspiring and uplifting way, but without the music and drama that you see in the movies. I understood that the best you can do is to look for a thread of structure within the chaos of daily life. Try and maintain some sense of organisation within the regular confusion.

How do you do this? You have a plan, a direction that you are heading, Your plan will guide your decisions so that you will see opportunities amidst the confusion. Even if they are only tiny steps, they will still take you in the direction of your dreams.

So the outcome of this incredibly anti-climactic vision is: Even when you’re swimming through mud, at least swim in a direction that is of some benefit to you!

I rewrote this 'vision' as a story in my new creative blog 'Underground Delights'.

creative imagination

Infinite creativity and imagination

Many dream to be one with the infinite, to experience eternity in the moment, to feel timelessness in an instant. Unfortunately that dream is crazy, you already live in the infinite and you cannot help but live in eternity and experience timelessness in each instance. This is an infinite world in an endless universe. There is no finite. There are no sharp edges, there is no physical limit.

According to quantum science, every edge ends in an impossible-to-measure fuzziness. The science of fractals shows that every measurement is infinitely long. Take the coastline of an island. How do you measure it? Do you do it in kilometres, centimetres, millimetres? When do you measure it? High tide, low tide? How do you measure it? Do you follow every little inlet, every craggy rock and the shifting sands?

You can only take an approximation of every calculation. The more detailed you make your measurements the more impossible it becomes. The more liberal you make your measurements, the more incorrect they become. Science can measure to the atom. Science can also measure to the light year. This is not much use to someone measuring a coastline.

There are no correct measurements, there are only practical values can be used to get a relative appraisal. Everything is impossibly long, infinity exists right here and now.

Time is just as impossible to measure. How do you measure the moment? Is the moment an infinitely small slot in time? How can you measure the now in which we all live. It is an instant that forever changes.

We see changes occurring as the combined result of these infinite slices of time. Everything occurs in an impossible to measure moment.

We live in an infinite moment in an infinite world with immeasurable distances between us. Good, bad, high, low… everything is relative to another thing and nothing can be measured without comparison.

So use your infinite imagination to express your eternal creativity!

creative dreams

I'm an idiot following stupid.

Society consistently tends towards generic. It likes to level and remove the mountains. It likes to place us in boxes and seal the lid. We all watch the same TV programs, wear the same fashion, buy the latest electronic goods, drive the same cars… think the same dumb ideas…

Don’t you ever feel that you want to break out and do it your way? Don’t you ever get tired of the same old superficial garbage being thrown at you by the contrived and controlled media? Isn’t it time to think for yourself? Isn’t it time you allowed yourself to be more creative?

Being creative is being more yourself. It is realising that you do not have to follow and that you are quite capable of original thought. You are capable of new and original ideas. You are capable of thinking for yourself.

New thoughts mean rejecting old ones. This is not always easy. It takes effort to think differently. It takes effort to question what you thought was normal. It takes time to adjust to the idea that a creative person is not ‘normal’.

You don’t want to stay locked up in your tiny, frustrating world where you are spoon fed a bad diet by greedy corporations! Surely, you have had enough of stupid, washed out ideas and lies!

Well start saying no! Stop agreeing with all of the stupidity thrown at you everyday. Stop giving your time to people who don’t deserve your goodness. Stop staring blankly at your TV screen allowing your mind to suck in all of the contrived news stories and misleading ‘facts’.

When you accept stupidity, you become a part of it.

Who are you? What do you really believe. Think about these things. Let your mind take you on imaginative journeys to ideas that you previously rejected. You should rule your fantastically imaginative mind, don’t give control to the corporations.

Play with possibilities. Be happy to entertain strange ideas, play with temporary scenarios.

Believing that anything is a fixed truth in this uncertain infinite existence, sounds pretty stupid to me.

creative space

Creative spaces

You don't give yourself enough room to be creative. You need to take up more space. Think about what you will accept from the world and the people around you. Make this your private space and anything that invades or offends this space will have to go.

• Speak up for what you want.
• Don’t compromise what you want.
• Don’t be grateful if the outcome conflicts with your dream.
• Don’t accept bad service or rudeness.
• If someone is insulting (even subtly) – cut off your energy.
• If a person cannot accept you as you are, get them out of your world.
• If you are not happy with a situation, make changes.

Think about what you want and what you need to be comfortable in this tough world, then push out to get it.To express your creative heart and your unique imagination, you need all of the space you can get. Don’t let bullies push their dreams into your space. Do not yield to their foolishness.

Do not give, give, give. You are giving away your luck and your space. This is confining and causes you to live in a tiny prison with no room to move. You are undermining yourself when you compromise to please others. You are giving them your space.

You are the centre of your world. Expand your world to fill the real world, give yourself more room. Who knows how far your expectations can really take you?

Creative Ways to Write

Creative ideas to play with

Write short answers. Keep it simple.

1. What sort of people do you avoid?
2. What sort of foods do you prefer?
3. Socially, what sort of unique skills do you have?
4. At work, what are you particularly good at?
5. What makes you happy?
6. What would make you happier?
7. What makes you really angry?
8. What makes you feel free?
9. What makes you feel confined?
10. If you could have any job, what would you choose?

Look at your list. Think about your replies and look for a common thread. Ask yourself who am I? Who am I? What am I?

Imagine if you were an alien observing you, what would you think?

Now imagine that you are an infinite something, temporarily experiencing this world. What are you trying to express? What are you always reaching for? Take the time to think about your life from this point of view. Imagine that you are something eternal, feel it. MMmmm possibilities… What is it that you feel an urge to bring about?

The more you learn about yourself, the easier it is to focus in a direction that is you.  Imagination opens doors to possibilities.

creative individuality

Move along! Nothing creative around here to see!

Lying on the beach on a tropical island is okay for a change, but as a career… it sucks! It is a myth to imagine that having no purpose, sitting back with nothing to do is the ideal life. Life is a game to be played, it is not a show for spectators. Most people prefer to be spectators because it is safer than playing. They live safe so that they can die safe.

Having nothing to do is only fun for a while, then it turns into boredom and then pettiness and frustration. Those few who are the players are those few who are having the most fun. There is nothing more boring than a bored person and most people are bored. Very few are involved in life, most are voyeurs watching the courageous take the risks and have all of the thrills.

It is a myth that retirement will bring you into the blissful state of nothing-to-do. Retiring from what you do not enjoy, and starting what you do enjoy, can certainly lead to happiness but retirement with no purpose is a death bell. You do not have to physically die to be dead.

There are millions of spectators out there who passively observe with as much enthusiasm as a brick wall. From the sideline, they watch the players express their creativity and joy of living.

Having a purpose can be simple or it can be grand it does not matter, but it needs to be exciting. This is achieved by doing something you love. Live in the moment and love what you do but lean into change, this is adventure.

You need something to play with, a project that you can be passionate about, an adventure that is worth living for. A project is a projection, a purpose that leans into change. Change is natural, adventure is the natural consequence of welcoming change.

You are alive, you are aware and you are in a reality that works best with participation. You can play or you can watch. The players have all the fun. Usually the spectators do all of the talking. They can tell you what should have happened and what they would have done but they cannot play because they cannot cope with the uncertainty of the game. People forfeit the right to play to avoid the risk of losing.

A player never loses because only the playing is of value. Non-players are the losers.

To the artist, the value is in the creating, the playing. The finished work belongs with another player, who can use it to enrich their own game. Better to play and fall, than to stall and not play at all.
