Imagine that you are on a conveyor belt that never stops. It never ever stops and so you can never ever stop. You have to keep on walking, walking, walking. It is like your heartbeat, you cannot stop it, you do not want to stop it, it just goes on, day after day after day.

The conveyor belt that is causing your unceasing action is called time. Your feet are stuck here in this present moment called now, you can lean back in time and you can lean forward in time, but you cannot move your feet out of the present moment. Where you want your head to be is your choice.

Day after day the conveyor belt keeps on traveling and you keep on moving as it passes beneath you. There are many ideas and objects that you collect as your walk continues over the years. Your arms become loaded with many of these things, things you think are important enough to hold on to. These are the possessions that let you feel safe, or successful or any other feeling that appeals to you.

You become so loaded up with these essentials that you cannot see over the top. Your view of life becomes severely limited. Of course over a long time, many of the things you are holding are no longer useful in your life and only through habit and comfort do you keep them.

Most people collect so much around them that they can no longer see what is coming at them. New ideas and opportunities never stop arriving but they are lost to you behind the barrier of your possessions. You cannot see beyond your own belief system.

It is a wonderful feeling to drop a some of your old habits and possessions. It is amazing how clearly this lets you see! Suddenly the world feels fresh and full of bright ideas and opportunities. Maybe, these are the things that unencumbered youth see around them! Maybe this is why they are more courageous and full of confidence about life.

Perhaps as you become older you become blind to opportunities simply because you cannot see for all of the garbage you have accumulated in your head!
