responsible for the future

Creative ways to avoid stupidity, if you can.

I doubt that this is possible, because every day, humanity demonstrates that stupidity is one of the dominant traits of our species! This planet sucks!

It’s the economy! It’s the weather! We have to blame something, it couldn’t be us!

You solve one problem and you are immediately hit in the face with another. It is indeed rare to meet a person without any problems. In fact if you do, you are probably meeting a liar.

For some strange reason, we all insist on denying our true situation. We feel as if we are failures, if we admit we have problems. Yet problems are the normal way of life in this world. Everybody has problems and they never cease. There is always a new twist, another difficult combination of circumstances.

Unfortunately, you also cause many of your problems. You make them through ‘bad’ choices, ‘mistakes’, ‘bad timing’ or just plain stupidity.

Most of the time there is very little that could have been done to avoid the problems you have. They seem to twist their way into lives through bizarre circumstances and perfectly synchronized timing (by whom I don’t know!). However… stupidity causes many of your difficulties and really, they could often have been avoided.

Stupidity is the result of not acting responsibly.

• You may have had too much to drink and caused harm to yourself or someone else.

• You may have not been concentrating while you were driving and had an accident.

• You may have been on drugs and did something very much out of character.

• You may have ‘lost’ your temper and said things that cannot be taken back.

There are endless tragedies that can be told. Anyone could tell you of times that they did not act responsibly. As a result their life was more complicated for themselves and those around them.

Well, all of your acts of stupidity are in the past now, (hopefully) and it is no good having regrets. There is not enough time in life for that. Get on with your life and realize that having a sense of responsibility is not something just for the oldies with no sense of adventure, it is something that needs to be considered in every persons life – often. You do not need to add to your own problems.

Take the example of gambling at the roulette table. There is nothing wrong with it, as long as you are willing to bear the losses if you are not lucky. If you lose and you complain, then you did not consider the cost. If you can wear the loss, then go ahead. If it would mean hardship for you or someone else, think twice, you are being irresponsible and self-destructive.

When I am sparing at Tae Kwon Do, I try to be careful not to injure myself, as well as trying to avoid any serious injuries to my training partner. I consider the cost of my actions. I pull back on punches, don’t kick as hard as I could. I am not willing to bear the upset, if I was to harm my friend.

If my partner is going too hard on me, I will not hesitate to ask him to back off a little. It is not about winning, it is about being there and being able to laugh about it tomorrow.

Consider the possible outcomes of your irresponsible actions and you might act a little differently. Life is hard enough without you making it worse for yourself. Stupidity is a natural trait of our species, but lack of responsibility certainly make it more obvious!

individual me

Creative ways to be obvious and get more attention.

If you want to stand out from the crowd as an individual:
You will not do it with clothing.
You will not do it by swearing or being loud or talking clever talk.
You will not do it by pretending you are something that you are not.

You will not do it by being intelligent and interesting.
There is only one way to stand out from the crowd.
There is only one true way to be an individual, a creative person. You must be honest to yourself. Only when you are true to your own heart can you be a true expression of your unique character.

Your character is unique to you. You don’t have to find yourself or redesign yourself. To be that someone special, you only have to relax and be yourself.

Even the so-called rebels in society, conform to dress standards, speech standards and even thought standards that are common to that particular group. They conform to the requirements of the group mind. There is nothing wrong with doing that, if it suits your needs.

You might belong to a club or work in an environment that requires restrictions on your personality. You might be a husband and father in the evening and a police officer in the day. Very different roles need to be played out. If you understand that your work is only a game that you are willing to go along with for the sake of a regular income, then that is fine. However, the real you, needs to express and this should be the situation in your home environment.

I have a black-belt in Tae Kwon Do. That means I have to be sensible and a good example while I am in the school environment. I am willing to compromise parts of my personality when I am in the training hall, in exchange for all of the other benefits I gain. If I want to be my easy-going relaxed self, I am in the wrong place. If I want to make jokes and be noisy, I am in the wrong place.

If you want to be an individual, you need to practice being yourself, initially by yourself. Discover who you really are. it is no big deal, it is usually simply a matter of being more honest with how you feel about different circumstances. Instead of suppressing your feelings. let them out and understand what you really feel and who you really are.  And… you do not have to be nice all of the time!

You cannot expect to be an individual, when you are sharing a group environment. Do your creative thing on your own! Your creativity should not be at the expense of others.
If you find that your job or your social life or your club, stifles your creativity, you can do either of 2 things:
1. Leave and be creative somewhere else or
2. Accept the way that the game is played and enjoy the benefits you gain!

You probably have to conform to be able to earn your income. You even have to conform to enjoy yourself. When you go to the movies, you have to suppress your natural urge to talk and comment on the show. When you are playing a sport, you probably have to suppress your natural urge to bend the rules slightly every now and then!

Social norms such as manners, traditions, families and behavior in public places, force you to change the way you behave. Laws make you compromise. Your bodily functions make you compromise. Driving down the highway constantly requires adjustments and compromise. Walking down the street requires certain acceptable behavior.

In the outer world, for most of the day, you are not free to be yourself. However, in your inner world it is safe to be yourself all of the day.

It is not easy to be true to yourself. Often you will feel foolish when you go against society just so that you can express your personal truth. However, take it one little step at a time and you will find that before long you have become so much more of yourself that you will be constantly confident with who you are!

If you want to be creative, then the real you needs to get out and play a lot!

Forever creative

Creative ways to have no future.

I sat on a chair in my home. My face had an itch. I raised my hand to the itch and scratched it.

I went downstairs to my car because I wanted to visit my friend.  I hopped in the car and drove onto the busy street.  There was a lot of traffic, a lot of traffic lights and a lot of turns to make before I arrived at my friends home on the other side of the city.

My friend had a complicated financial problem  that he needed help with. We spent hours studying mortgages, investments and banking details. Eventually we arrived at a practical solution so I hopped into my car and headed for home.

On the way home I stopped at a park. I grabbed my bow and arrow and walked across the beautiful green grass and then shot a duck. I went back to my car and continued on my journey home. On the way home, I thought that one day I would love to be one of the world’s best opera singers. I shrugged my shoulders and thought no more of it.

I wanted to scratch my face – I did it.
I wanted to drive across a busy city – I did it.
I wanted to help my friend solve a complicated financial problem – I did it.
I aimed an arrow to hit a distant target – I did it
I wanted to become a famous singer – I didn’t do it.

I did not even consider the possibility of becoming a famous singer.

In every other situation I did not doubt my ability to achieve.

If I doubt an idea so much that I do not give it any energy, how can it become a reality?

If I want to become creative or clever or anything… don’t I have to do something about it?

Creative, intuitive art

Creative ways to energize yourself.

What is the advantage of being creative?
Why should you even bother? Why not take the easy way out and continue to live in the fog created by your blind faith in the media gods? At least your opinions are presented to you and people won’t mock you because you don’t conform.

Well, are there any advantages?
• You will probably:
• See from a new perspective.
• Feel invigorated by new ideas.
• See opportunities where once you saw locked doors.
• Have something exciting to look forward to.
• Feel alive with the adventure of a new project and possibilities.
• Boost your confidence when you see positive results from your efforts.
• Make some money if you pursue your product to excellence.
• Have more energy for daily living.

If these points aren't enough to convince you, maybe you should resign yourself to live in the fog and swallowing all of the stories that you are fed by the media gods!

"Get me another beer dear while I think about it!"
